Crossing The Barrier
In the late 19th century prospectors flooded to Skagway, Alaska to secure their piece of the Gold Rush. Setting foot on Alaskan soil was a massive accomplishment. It was only the beginning of the carnivorous road to get to the gold fields. White Pass (known as dead horse trail) was filled with gangs. Chilkoot Pass was known for starvation, hypothermia and avalanches. When the prospectors finally got to Lake Bennet they had to build or buy boats to travel down the river to the gold fields.
Today there is a $900+ billion dollar digital transformation “Gold Rush” in the US. Google, Microsoft and Amazon are investing billions ($4 Trillion Dollars in market cap).
